MICHAEL LEWIS PROFILE - NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER - FINANCE INDUSTRY STORYTELLER
Michael Lewis is a renowned American author and financial journalist noted for his ability to make complex topics accessible through engaging storytelling. Born in New Orleans in 1960, Lewis attended Princeton University and the London School of Economics before beginning his career on Wall Street as a bond salesman at Salomon Brothers. Disillusioned with the industry, he chronicled his experiences in his breakout book, Liar’s Poker (1989), which remains a definitive account of Wall Street’s excesses during the 1980s.
His writing spans finance, economics, sports, and public policy. Lewis’s most prominent works include The Big Short, which dissected the causes of the 2008 financial crisis; Moneyball, focused on data-driven strategies in baseball; The Blind Side, telling the story of football player Michael Oher; Flash Boys, about high-frequency trading; and The Fifth Risk, exploring government management and risk. Several of these books have been adapted into successful films. Lewis’s signature style mixes in-depth research with vivid narrative, earning him international acclaim and multiple bestsellers. His most recent book, Going Infinite, explores the collapse of cryptocurrency exchange FTX.
